What happens to your signature
Last updated 17 October 2026
The short version: we collect only what you type into our forms (the pledge and, if you use it, the letter page). We use it to count signatures and, only if you tick the box, to email you. We never sell it, and we never use it to train AI.
Who runs this site
My Life, My Data is a campaign published by Personal Data Trust, a project of InsurEco. InsurEco also makes Cloys, the app mentioned on this site.
What we collect
- What you type: your first name, your email address and, if you give it, your ZIP code.
- Whether you ticked "Email me updates", and the exact wording you agreed to.
- Which page you signed on and, if you arrived from one of our ads or posts, the campaign tags in the link (for example
utm_source). - A one-way hash of your IP address, kept to stop duplicate and automated signatures. We don't store the address itself.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own, and it runs no advertising trackers or analytics scripts. Our network provider, Cloudflare, may set a strictly necessary security cookie to protect the site from automated attacks. If we ever add cookies, we'll ask you first.
How we use it
- To count signatures and report totals, including totals by area from ZIP codes. We publish numbers, never names.
- To learn which messages on this site work best, from the page and campaign tags.
- If you ticked the box: to email you about this campaign and about Cloys. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
- Our team may review new signatures in our internal records, for example to remove fake ones.
If you didn't tick the box, we won't send you marketing email.
What we never do
- Sell, rent or trade your signature or contact details.
- Use them to train AI models.
- Send anything to a representative or official in your name without asking you first, letter by letter.
If you send a letter
- We collect your full name, your email address, your mailing address and, if you give it, your phone number. Your name and address print on the letter as the return address.
- We keep the exact text of each letter, the wording you agreed to, your typed signature, the time, and which officials you chose.
- Your address is sent to a postal address-verification service and to a representative-lookup service (Cicero) to find your officials. The letter is printed and mailed by a print-and-mail service we use. These providers receive only what is needed to do that job.
- We email you a link to confirm your email before any letter is queued. You can cancel a letter from that link until its weekly batch is approved. Each weekly batch is reviewed by a person before anything is mailed.
If you use address suggestions, the part of your address you type is sent to Google (Google Places) to suggest matches; we do not store those keystrokes, and you can skip suggestions and type your full address yourself.
Where it's kept
Signatures are stored in InsurEco's systems, hosted by DigitalOcean in the United States. The site is served through Cloudflare.
Deleting your signature
Email [email protected] from the address you signed with and we'll delete your signature and stop any emails. You can also ask for a copy of what we hold about you.
